Wheel alignment: essential precision for safety, savings and performance
Published on 05/08/2025
Wheel alignment: a term often associated with vehicle maintenance, without necessarily grasping its technical scope or its real impact on driving. Yet a simple misalignment after an impact, a pothole or many kilometres driven can be enough to degrade road holding, accelerate tyre wear, increase fuel consumption… or even compromise safety. In our workshop in Dardagny, we have made wheel alignment a speciality: an overview of the issues, the method and the expertise, thanks to our state-of-the-art Corghi Exact Linear Plus equipment. 🚗
What is wheel alignment? It is the ultra-precise adjustment of the wheel angles: toe, camber, caster, thrust angle… Depending on the make and model, these settings are calculated to the millimetre to guarantee stability, even wear, comfort and responsiveness. Even a minimal misalignment quickly results in a car that pulls to one side, an off-centre steering wheel, imprecise steering or erratic tyre wear – sometimes 30 % faster for just 1 mm of deviation!
Many people do not realise that imperfect alignment also increases fuel consumption and rolling resistance, and deprives the driver of maximum safety when cornering, in the rain, during emergency braking or aquaplaning. Driving without proper alignment also means risking premature wear of the suspension, ball joints, wishbones and steering, sooner or later leading to higher costs.
In our workshop, wheel alignment is not a “quick” check, but an expert job carried out on a computerised rig. Our Corghi Exact Linear Plus takes real-time measurements on all four wheels, with a graphic display of each angle. High-resolution sensors, step-by-step software, live correction: every vehicle regains alignment that strictly complies with the manufacturer’s data, whatever its type (city car, SUV, van, sports car or modified vehicle).
Why entrust your wheel alignment to us? To benefit from personalised advice, clear reports and above all the assurance of precise work. Each of our jobs includes measurements, an explanation and follow-up recommendations, in the service of your safety and the longevity of your car.
When should you have it checked? We recommend having the alignment checked every year, or if a tyre is wearing unevenly, after any impact, even a minor one, or if the car no longer “tracks” straight. It is the smart move to drive with peace of mind, save on tyres & fuel, and preserve the value of your vehicle.
