Wheel Spacers & Track Wideners

Wheel Spacers & Track Wideners

We have a large range of approved wheel spacers for most vehicles. Our selection includes various systems, with spacers supplied with extended bolts in thicknesses from 5 to 15mm that will give your vehicle a wider stance. If the gap to fill is larger, we also have 15-35mm applications with bolt-on spacers (the spacer is fixed to the wheel hub with new nuts, then the wheel is fixed to the spacer with the original bolts).

As supplying quality products is our priority, we only offer spacers made in Germany: we have opted for German quality to provide a precision-machined product that prevents vibrations.

Wheel spacers and track wideners: making the right choice

Extended bolts or bolt-on?

  • Spacers with extended bolts: the thinnest. The spacer slips between the hub and the wheel, which is fastened with the longer bolts supplied.
  • Bolt-on spacers (double-bolted): for greater thicknesses. The spacer is first bolted to the hub, then the wheel is fastened to the spacer with its original bolts.

Our Powertech wheel spacers are made in Germany, hub-centric and precision-machined to prevent vibration.

Choosing the right thickness

Measure the gap between the tyre sidewall and the edge of the wheel arch, and take the offset (ET) of your wheels into account: a low-offset wheel already sits further out. The wheel must stay covered by the bodywork and must not rub on full lock or under compression.

The thickness is often different at the front and rear. Choose your vehicle at the top of the page: only spacers matching your hub's PCD and centre bore are shown.

DTC certificate and vehicle inspection

In Switzerland, wheel spacers require a DTC certificate or equivalent to be entered on your vehicle's registration at the vehicle inspection. You need one certificate per axle. We offer DTC certificates for Powertech spacers: details and conditions on our Homologations page.

Fitting and tightening

Clean the contact surfaces of the hub and the wheel: rust or dirt prevent the spacer from sitting flat. Tighten to the manufacturer's specified torque, in a crisscross pattern, then re-check the torque after a few dozen kilometres.

With thin spacers, use only the extended bolts provided: original bolts that are too short would not engage enough threads.

Spacers, wheels and tyres

Spacers are often used to bring wheels flush with the arches, or to clear a larger brake caliper. If you are changing wheels, choose the right offset first: our alloy wheels are filtered for your vehicle, and the tyre size calculator compares tyre sizes.

Fitting and inspection in Geneva

Our workshop in Aïre fits spacers bought from Rupteur and can prepare the car for its inspection: checking the wheels, tyres and certificates.

Frequently asked questions

Are wheel spacers legal in Switzerland?

Yes, with a DTC certificate or equivalent for your vehicle, and once they are entered at the vehicle inspection. See Homologations.

Do I need one certificate per axle?

Yes: if you fit spacers at the front and rear, you need to order a certificate for each axle.

Which thickness should I choose?

The one that brings the tyre flush with the wheel arch without sticking out: measure the space available and take the offset of your wheels into account. The thicknesses offered depend on your vehicle.

Do spacers cause vibration?

No, if they are hub-centric, fitted on clean surfaces and tightened to the correct torque. Powertech spacers are precision-machined for exactly this purpose.

Should the wheels be re-tightened after fitting?

Yes, re-check the torque after a few dozen kilometres, as after any wheel fitting.

Can I keep my original bolts?

With thin spacers, no: you need the extended bolts supplied. With bolt-on spacers, the wheel is fastened to the spacer with its original bolts.
